Prototype product

ko3

Audio is most alive when one person is choosing the next track in real time, in a room small enough to feel present in.

A release-room product for independent artists. Small, intentional listening sessions with broadcast-grade audio and a recap that proves the room mattered.

ko3 is a release-room product for independent artists, built around a single, narrow job: help an artist host a focused listening session for their own music, make the live moment feel better than the workarounds, and produce a recap honest enough to prove the room actually mattered.

It is not a feed, a DSP, or a general live-audio app. The unit of product is a Coterie — a small, host-led room of tens to low hundreds, scheduled around a release or a conversation, with a clear beginning, middle, and end.

The wedge

Streaming rewards scale; existing live tools were built for talk, not for music. Independent artists already know how to gather their fans — they lack a room that takes the listening seriously and a recap that survives the moment. ko3 starts there and refuses to expand until the wedge is working.

What it explores

  • Performance-first audio. A broadcast-grade voice path in the browser — voice-activity detection, music-aware ducking, careful gain staging — so the host can speak naturally over a track without the feed going thin.
  • Host-led ritual. The artist controls tone, pace, and permissions. Participation is invited, not chaotic. The interface stays out of the way.
  • Intentionally small. Coteries seat tens to low hundreds, not stadiums. Smaller rooms feel premium, sustain attention, and make direct support meaningful.
  • A recap that earns repeat hosting. When the room closes, the host needs evidence: who showed up, how long they stayed, what played, what fans clicked next. Proof, not vanity.
  • Direct support over passive volume. A fan paying a few dollars for a moment they were present in is worth more — to the artist and to the relationship — than the equivalent in background streams.

Discipline

The roadmap has obvious adjacencies — persistent cross-DSP recap objects, a curation engine, a remix lineage graph, scenes and labels. None of them ship until artists are repeatedly hosting because the live moment and the recap are doing their job. The order matters.

Status

Closed alpha at insiders.ko3.fm. The interesting problems sit between three surfaces: keeping the audio honest at scale, designing host economics that respect the artist–fan relationship, and resisting every product instinct to turn a quiet room into a feed.
